We take great pride in the fact that our ponderosa pine logs  are hand peeled instead of machine peeled.  Peeling them by hand takes a great deal more effort, but in the end you get truly unique log furniture.  If they were machine peeled they would all look the same.  We also use 1 and 1/2" and 2” glued  mortise and tenon joints. Some of them are screwed also.  The glue that we use for the joints in our log furniture is Gorilla Glue, which I believe to be the strongest wood glue I’ve ever used. Basically once the joints are glued and screwed, the only  way to get them apart is to break the wood.  For the tops and shelves we use 1 and 1/2" thick boards for extra strength.  What I mean to say is that this rustic log furniture is flippin sturdy and meant to last a lifetime!  Don’t worry the queen size rustic log beds are shipped in separate pieces (headboard, footboard, and rails), so you can fit it through your door.  Find out more about why you should buy your rustic log furniture here.

There are several reasons we use Ponderosa Pine for our log furniture.  We find it considerably more characteristic than other species of pine found in our area.  By characteristic, I mean it has more curves, bends, and irregularities which makes for great looking log furniture.  We always try to use the most unusual pieces for the top rails of our log bed headboards (you don't have to pay extra for that "option.")  It also has a very attractive color when hand peeled.  The bark that is left on is a bright orange color.  Ponderosa pine is also very strong yet lightweight and easy to work with.

I have noticed since being in the rustic log furniture business that when I mention what kind of furniture I make, people automatically try to think of someone who has a log home. I have been trying to prove that you don’t need a log home to have log furniture in it.  It is my opinion, (which you can tell from the pictures),  that it creates harmony if it is in a setting that makes the logs stand out instead of blending in.  For example I enjoy the look of Rustic Whitewash log furniture in a dark  room. It really makes the rustic log furniture stand out instead of blending in. If you have beautiful log furniture why would you want it to blend in and be camouflaged?
